  • Newton forms in joint venture with Reed Stenhouse
1986
  • Company reorganised and named Newton Investment Management following acquisition by Alexander & Alexander
1992
  • Newton's management buys out A&A stake
1994
  • Newton acquires Capital House group of companies from RBS. RBS purchases 33% interest in Newton
1998
  • Newton & Mellon complete agreement for Mellon to acquire 75% majority interest in Newton
2000
  • £20 billion AUM barrier broken
2001
  • Mellon exercises option to acquire most of the remaining shares
  • Helena Morrissey becomes CEO of Newton
2002
  • Mellon acquisition complete
2006
  • £30 billion AUM barrier broken
2007
  • Mellon merges with Bank of New York to form BNY Mellon
2008
  • Newton celebrates its 30 year anniversary
