55 investment professionals working as one team. While each individual has their own responsibilities and accountabilities, so does each team. But generating or challenging ideas is not the role of just one professional group. Analysts and portfolio managers are all expected to generate stock ideas and global themes. These ideas are then channelled through decision-making forums to action, investigate or discard.
At the heart of our process, our career global analysts undertake fundamental, proprietary research in their sector. Our analysts use a variety of valuation techniques, depending on the industry and company. Importantly, they follow a separate, but equally valued, career path to fund management.
Our portfolio managers are tasked to construct single, integrated portfolios according to client requirements, objectives and restrictions. In so doing, they endeavour to actively add value to each client portfolio, and are not just implementers of a recommended list.
Our centralized trading team has an average of eleven years’ experience at Newton. This depth of expertise allows us to seek best execution and keep transactions costs to a minimum. The traders minimize market impact and other implicit costs by the use of crossing networks, algorithmic trading and tapping into all possible pools of liquidity. Execution costs and performance are regularly monitored.
The Portfolio Analytics Team (PAT) and Portfolio Analysis Group (PAG) are comprised of risk management specialists and investment professionals responsible for ensuring that Newton’s house views are being appropriately expressed in portfolios. They also ensure that clients’ risk parameters, investment objectives and restrictions are being followed. |
