Newton's 2007 institutional investment conference was held in November at the Savoy in London and included presentations by a number of our fund managers and analysts on a wide variety of topics. This report incorporates reviews of those presentations and follows broadly the format of the conference itself, including:
- an update on Newton and its investment performance (page 4)
- Newton's investment outlook (page 7)
- the application of Newton’s global, thematic investment approach (page11)
- the use of an equity income approach to meet long-term objectives (page 22) and
- the use of derivatives to isolate "alpha" (page 26)
We hope that this report of the conference will serve as a useful reference document for those who were able to join us at the Savoy and as a helpful summary of some principal areas of focus for those who were unable to attend.
